LEAVES OF LIGHT

Inner awareness & inner growth
based on Rabbi Nachman of Breslov's teachings

The Leaves of Light kit gives us a glimpse at the great mental doctor, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov's advices and offers tools for inner contemplation and development.

The kit includes 36 cards. Each card portrays a saying from Rabbi Nachman's teachings alongside a task, which is related to the specific topic.

The cards offer ways to transform Rabbi Nachman's advices into practical tools in order to live a full and meaningful life.

These cards touch upon various issues in the field of mental work such as: how to bring joy into our lives or how to properly use the power of thought in order to find the good in ourselves and in others.

The Leaves of Light are suitable for therapists and group facilitators, and are excellent for breaking the ice and opening the heart in working with groups as well as in social events.

They are also great as a birthday present, for Bar/Bat Mitzvah, or any other occasion.

Suggestions regarding the Leaves of Light Kit

The cards allow an encounter with our inner self and inspire us to make social connections by sharing with others.

Therapists, teachers and trainers use them extensively by incorporating them into individual and group activities.

There are many ways to work with these cards and naturally you can be creative and find your own way… We invite you to share with us your personal experience in using these cards.

Following are several options of working with the kit:

Individual work

Think about a topic that interests you or advice you currently need and take a random card from the pack. Look at the card and ask yourself how it concerns your life or the question that you have raised.

Additionally, follow the instruction on each card as it may shed light on the application and understanding of the specific advice or topic.

You may choose to speak with HaShem on this topic in hitbodedut (a solitary time in which one speaks with G-d).

You can write - take a notebook and write down everything that comes to mind regarding this issue.

Or, alternatively, speak with a close friend about the topic.

Group work

Working with a group naturally depends on the nature of the group and the number of participants.

Following is an example of how to use the kit:

Instructing the participants to select a topic or question that personally engages them and passing the card pack between the group members or alternatively scattering them upside down in the center of the room. Each participant will take a card out of the package and observe it for a few moments.

The next step is to remain in the structure of the entire group and share with the participants one's personal insights about the card that he/she had taken; another option is to divide the group into pairs and share with one partner. This will depend on the nature of the group and the number of participants. Of course, you can combine both options.

Social Events/Birthdays and so forth…

The Leaves of Light are a wonderful tool for opening the heart and breaking the ice between the guests and are therefore great for small events and friends' gatherings.

The host can think of a question, which is relevant to the event, and raise it prior to taking a card.

In the event that it is a Bar/Bat Mitzvah or bridal shower, one can think of a specific greeting or character trait of the child or bride and groom and relate it to the saying on the card.

Groups that work on a regular basis can choose a different group member each session who will take out a leaf at the end of the session for the entire group. He/she reads the content of the leaf to everyone and the group members accept it as a weekly assignment, until the next meeting. The beginning of the next session can be dedicated to sharing with the entire group or inviting two or three participants to share.

 Consents & Recommendations

I highly recommend the Leaves of Light Kit, which help to remember and practice, in a creative and pleasant manner, the advices of our holy Rabbi, Rabbi Nachman ben Feige.
          Rabbi Erez Moshe Doron

Several years ago, I received a set of therapeutic cards in the spirit of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov.
I liked the idea of composing a task for every sentence, thereby turning Rabbi Nachman's Torah into a practical tool for the soul's work.
Over the years, I have used this kit both personally and in groups that I have guided and it had added interest and renewal, inspiring the participants to open and share.
          Rabbi Michi Yosefi

Rabbi Nachman of Breslov said: I wished to attract the world into doing (Sichot Haran, article 19).

What a privilege to conceive the idea of the Leaves of Light kit, to carry it out, and to entitle others, in the country and the diaspora, to implement simple but great deeds.
We, and our families, are grateful for this wonderful tool, which helps to strengthen our faith.
We use the kit in our workshops on faith and prayer and because many people experience difficulty in understanding and implementing these issues, we have found this tool to be helpful in opening the heart and enhancing inner awareness and work that is usually hard to reach on our own.
